What is it about?

This course aims to:

  • PROVIDE A LEGAL AND PRACTICAL OVERVIEW OF THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES.
  • PROVIDE AN UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS AVAILABLE UNDER MALTESE LAW.
  • ANALYSE THE REQUIREMENTS AND PROCESS OF THE EMPLOYMENT LICENCE, THE SINGLE PERMIT APPLICATION AND KEY EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE APPLICATIONS.
  • PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF EMPLOYMENT LAW COMPLIANCE
  • ANALYSE THE APPLICABLE PROVISIONS DEALING WITH HARASSMENT, VICTIMISATION AND WHISTLE-BLOWING.

Who is it for?

 

The programme is ideally suited for Lawyers, Accountants, HR managers, HR Department members and supervisors, company directors and students wishing to familiarise themselves or otherwise obtain a deeper understanding of Maltese employment law.

 

What will I gain?

 

Participants will gain an understanding of the key Maltese employment law principles as set out in the Employment and Industrial Relations Act, related legislation and regulations. Practical insights and examples will also be provided throughout the entire session in order to allow participants to assimilate the principles and understand how to adapt them to day-to-day employment/HR scenarios. Reference will also be made to cases before the Industrial Tribunal and the Maltese courts. Areas such as good and sufficient causes of termination of employment, harassment and victimisation will be explained. The importance and relevance of whistle-blowing and whistle-blowing procedures as part of the company's policies and procedures will also be covered during the course of the training session.
