What it is about?
A new course focusing on a flat pattern making method which is essential for a designer to develop patterns on a grid and adapting them to the human body. It is easier to adjust the fit and provides a clear reproduction of the design in hand. An experienced pattern maker will know the principles of dart manipulation, adding fullness, contouring, adjusting sleeves and collars, from the basic pattern foundation to different apparel. Long term it saves time and you can produce a variation of clothes from one foundation pattern.
You will start by creating one of the following standard pattern set:
You will comprehend how to use a standard measurement chart, develop a pattern and test fit the sample, focusing on the comfort and optimal wearability. You will learn more about how garments should fit and correct any mistakes which may occur, by applying standard techniques,
The last part of the course leads you to Pattern designing an idea to personalize your pattern sample.
This is a foundation course at entry level. Discovering the balance lines of the human body. Hands on construction of patterns from the first lesson.

Requirements
It helps if you know math, for you would need to calculate fractions. English to read from a patternmaking book.
